THE 2015 CAMP STAFF ALUMNI WEEKEND

IT’S TIME TO HEAD BACK TO CAMP
August 1-2, 2015     T.L. Storer Scout Reservation

In just a few weeks, former Camp Staff will have the opportunity to experience the unique feeling of being in scout camp once again — reliving memories and the special experience of being on camp staff.

Former staff members from all scout camps historically part of Boston Minuteman or Yankee Clipper councils are encouraged to attend, including those who served at Adams Pond, Wild Goose, Parker Mountain, Sachem, Quinipoxett, Loon Pond, Fellsland, Massasoit, Sayre, Indian Pond, Wah-Tut-Ca, or Lone Tree.  Come represent your staff and share memories and experiences.

Meet the current staff and walk the trails, see the program areas, swim at the waterfront or go fishing or boating, try the rifle or archery ranges and COPES course, and see the Scoutcraft and Nature areas.  In particular, enjoy the traditional lobster and steak banquet and sing and laugh during the evening campfire.  Stay overnight if you wish.  Have fun and help us preserve the great customs and traditions of summer camp.

Your registration fee includes Saturday lunch, camp activities, the Lobster & Steak banquet, campfire and post-campfire deserts, and a commemorative Staff Alumni Weekend T-shirt.  It also includes overnight accommodations (camp tents) and Sunday morning “coffee and donuts” for those who wish to stay.  Bring your kids and share your memories with them.  There will be plenty of free time to get re-acquainted with old friends and meet new ones.

The annual presentation of the Alumni Staff Spirit Awards will follow the banquet.  Our Honoree this year will be Charlie Rogers, Camp staff at Indian Pond and Storer Reservation from1973-1984.

Field Trip to Parker Mountain Scout Camp

There will be a field trip to Parker Mountain, Sunday August 2, at the conclusion of the Alumni Weekend.  All are welcome, especially former Parker Mountain staff.  Gather at the Storer Reservation Dining Hall for a 9 AM timely departure.  Chuck Eaton, the Council Scout Executive, will discuss the planned revitalization of Parker Mountain as a year-round camping resource and adventure outpost serving scouts who attend Storer and Wah-Tut-Ca.  Questions?  Contact Bruce Colvin at bacolvin@juno.com or 781-910-7368.

CHECK IN

Check in at the Storer Reservation Dining Hall.  Just follow the signs!  Registration will be from 9:00 am – 11:00 am. Come early to meet and greet your old and new friends.  See the camp staff and scouts as they perform their end-of-week flag and awards ceremony at the parade ground, beginning at 9:30 AM.

PARKING

Parking will be in the main lot near the camp entrance and Ranger’s house.  Camp is still in session so traffic must be kept to a minimum.  If you require handicapped parking, or special accommodations, just let us know in advance or at check in.  Also, if you are planning to bring an RV, there will be space provided; just let us know in advance.

WHAT TO BRING

Bring your old photos, yearbooks, patches, memorabilia, swim trunks, bug spray, fishing pole, flashlight, and rain gear (in case of liquid sunshine). Most of all, be sure to bring lots of stories to share with others.  If you are planning on staying in one of the camp tents, bring a mosquito net and sleeping bag; campsites are reserved for us. Tents will have bunks and mattress pads.  You can request a tent at check in (or bring your own tent).

DIRECTIONS TO CAMP IN Barnstead NH

Although many of us could drive to camp with our eyes closed at one time, you may have to rely on your GPS or MapQuest for help.  (Note: There have been reports that GPS systems may direct you to Province Road which has fallen into disrepair.)  From Route 93 North, take Exit 9N for Route 28 North towards Hooksett, NH.  Proceed along Route 28 to Route 126.  Pass through Center Barnstead and then look for Bow Lake Road; turn right.  Continue to John Tasker Road, turn right there, and follow that road to the camp entrance.
