Ladies & Gentleman,

I believe most of you remember Paul Casey who was the founder of Troop 8, Jamaica Plain. He also served as Scoutmaster, Committee Chair and Chartered Organization over the span of 43 years as an adult leader. He was an active member of the Boston Council serving on the Camping Committee and numerous other committees at the council level throughout the 43 tenure. Paul received the St. George Award for Catholic Scouting, the District Award of Merit and the Silver Beaver Award.

I remembered two rules Paul enforced when it came to camping at T. L. Storer Reservation:

· All Scouts went to camp
· All Scouts had uniforms

Paul would contact local Jamaica Plain merchants and companies for donations or even pay for out of his own pocket if they couldn’t afford it.

Paul was married to Anne Casey for 43 years and they have 13 children. Margaret the youngest daughter is currently on the Knox Trail Council Staff serving as the Senior Exploring Executive. She will be running the Boston Marathon in Paul’s memory for the American Stroke Association.

This will be great time and an opportunity to support a good cause so please review the attached invitation and I hope I see you there next Friday night in Dorchester!

Sincerely,

Bill Boylan,
Troop 8 J.P.
